Self portrait carved on 4x6' (1.22x1.83m) on MDF board
In the Spring of 2018 I admitted myself to a mental care facility due to the build up of my anxiety and depression that led to multiple suicide attempts. After receiving proper care and treatment, I sought a way to put more of myself into my art. "reason" was that. 63 hours were spent reflecting on what brought me to this point as I carved each intricate thread of my life into a portrait of the person they shaped. Creating this was not just a feat in itself due to its scale, but it is also an integral part of my recovery process.
